Jennifer Lopez dazzled audiences with her rendition of Rihanna's chart-topping song "Diamonds" on the American Idol season finale on Wednesday night (May 13).

While she went for a floor-length black gown with lace panels for the show itself, J.Lo went for a wintery white look. And to put all the focus on the dress, she kept to natural but glowy makeup and her hair down.

Accompanied by her fellow judges Harry Connick Jr. on the piano and Keith Urban playing guitar, the trio's rendition nixed the extra synths and orchestral feel of the original and turned it into an emotional ballad. Although Lopez has sung slow songs in the past, she showed off her vocals, especially at the end where she closed the song with a nice belted note.

The mood then transitioned to something with a bit more pep when the J.Lo, Harry and Keith started covering Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven." As Jennifer stepped off her podium and joined the other judges at the front of the stage, Urban took the lead on the first verse of the tune followed by Lopez on the chorus.

As the trio played their hearts out, this season's contestants were partying it up in the crowd while Urban's wife, actress Nicole Kidman, looked admirably from her seat.

Last night's performance comes after Fox announced that American Idol will be ending in 2016 as well as Lopez's announcement regarding her residency in Las Vegas.

If the final season of American Idol is going to be as entertaining as this, then we're really in for a treat next year.
