Justin Bieber offered some kind words—and sound advice—to his "Love Yourself" co-writer Ed Sheeran during his BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge interview this week.

"Me and Ed aren't super close but he's someone who I consider a friend and I really appreciate his music," he shared, adding, "I appreciate who he is as a person. He's an inspiration to a lot of young people. He makes awesome music that people are inspired by and that people laugh to, cry to and I think it's important in music to have those people who bring the emotion out of you."

The Canadian pop superstar also gushed about Sheeran's innate likability as both an artist and a person.

"There's something about him that just makes you like him. He's very likable and very, very talented," he said.

But Bieber knows that fame can sometimes make you do foolish things—a mistake, he added, that he doesn't want to see the "Thinking Out Loud" singer make himself.

"We gotta make sure he doesn't do something stupid to mess it all up," he concluded.

So, what sort of "stupid" things could he possibly be talking about?

Maybe he just wants Sheeran to avoid doing something like peeing in a restaurant's mop bucket, angering PETA, fighting publicly with a famous and beloved ex on social media, (allegedly) breaking a stranger's phones, egging a neighbor's house, or destroying the very hopes and dreams of his most impassioned fans.

You know, just a few activities Sheeran may want to stay away from.
