The final numbers are in and Justin Timberlake is the king of the music charts this week. The soulful crooner's first album in seven years, 'The 20/20 Experience,' premiered at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

The collection moved 968,000 copies in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. This is extraordinary for an album in 2013, considering the music industry has been in a decline for several years.

JT has become the first artist in 2013 to have the best first-week sales since Taylor Swift's moved 1.2 million of 'Red' last fall. The country star is followed by Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' and Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter IV' with sales of 1.1 million and 964,000, respectively, in 2011.

Additionally, '20/20' places Timberlake in third among male singers who notched stellar first-week tallies. In 2004, Usher pushed 1.10 million copies of 'Confessions,' while Garth Brooks' 'Double Live' album moved 1.09 million copies in 1998.

Timberlake is now gearing up for his Legends of the Summer tour with his 'Suit & Tie' co-star Jay-Z. The stadium-only trek starts July 17 in Toronto, Ontario and ends Aug. 16 in Miami.
