Director Says Kanye West Is Not Involved in ‘Cruel Winter’ Film Trailer

It looks like someone play a cruel joke on us. The 54-second 'Cruel Winter' trailer that recently surfaced online apparently does not involved Kanye West.

Fuse talked with Austin Christianson, the creator of the trailer, who revealed that neither Yeezy or anyone in G.O.OD. Music was behind the project. "Without getting into many details, I will say that the trailer was independently made and the video is essentially a concept trailer," said the 23-year-old filmmaker. "It's used for pitching an idea and/or concept to a client. With that said, the video was being used for pitching purposes and it's naturally intended only for the client to see."

So how come Christianson didn't upload the video for private viewing? In any case, the clip instantly went viral and help further extend the urban legend that Kanye is part of the secretive Hip-Hop Illumanti. However, if you watched this episode of 'The Cleveland Show,' that theory may or may not be entirely true. But we digress.

Kanye's reps didn't comment on the trailer, however, Def Jam Records did go on Twitter to deny involvement with the clip. Since then, Christianson has removed the trailer from both his YouTube page and Vimeo website.

When asked if "the client" (which is probably code word for Kanye) had seen the trailer, Christianson remained elusive with the details, telling Fuse, "I can't tell you any more than what's already out there."

Despite this cruel hoax, that doesn't mean that a 'Cruel Winter' album is not in the works. Q-Tip seems adamant that a project is in development. So, for now, fans will have to wait patiently for Kanye's next big move.
