The fireworks burst on the latest episode of Catfishin which an English woman named Harriet admitted to posing as Katy Perry online to get a rise out of a prospective internet dater Spencer Morrill. But Perry, who's since found out about the episode, is less than amused.

In an interview with Sirius XM's Morning Mash-Up, Perry said a friend sent her a link to a Catfish recap, and has called the story of Spencer's duping "unfortunate and sad."

"You know, like, my heart goes out to him actually because anybody that's been fooled like that or just, you know, people have dreams, and people live in different parts of world where not everything is always so accessible," Perry said. "Like we live on the coast, and we...you know...'get' stuff in a way that some other people don't get, and I felt bad for him. So I didn't really like to indulge in that."

Morrill, a resident of Tennessee, believed he was dating Perry for six years after first "meeting" her on a small-scale message board. Even after Harriet unveiled herself as a sham version of the pop star, Morrill still insisted he had Perry's heart.

And Harriet's reaction didn't do much to help things — she's told Gloucestershire Live since the episode aired that she doesn't have a single regret. In fact, she said there was only a thrill in learning she'd be on TV.

"I was surprised but excited too," she said. "I'd obviously heard of the show before, I'm a little bit of a fan, and knew this was serious."
