Kelis' artistic evolution from a Harlem, N.Y., teen with a dream to a flourishing songstress continues with her latest visual for 'Jerk Ribs,' from her sixth studio album, 'Food.'

If the 34-year-old singer's latest musical stylings weren't enough to illustrate how far she's come since 'Caught Out There,' the primary theme of 'Jerk Ribs' is a nostalgic look back for her.

As Kelis sings, "I was the girl, my daddy was the world / He played the notes and keys / He said to look for melody in everything," images of the singer posing for a photo shoot (shot by Mister Cartoon) and in different locations swoop onscreen.

The inarguable soulful vocals and honest lyrics on 'Jerk Ribs' (and the newly released 'Rumble'), backed by prominent funk horns, point to signs that Kelis' 'Food' is going to be a personal album for the singer.

'Food' is due April 22.
