Young people this weekend will be able to learn about summer educational opportunities at Kopernik Observatory and Science Center.

A free open house event will be held at the Vestal educational complex on Saturday.

Organizers say students will have an opportunity to find out about summer camps that will explore a range of topics related to science, technology, engineering and math.

The camps will be open to students who are currently in grades one through twelve.

In addition to learning about summer programs, people attending the open house event will be able to try hands-on projects. Teachers and observatory staff will be available to answer questions.

Summer camp registration will start this weekend. In-person registration will be possible on Saturday. After that, students will be able to use an online system to register.

Saturday's open house is to run from 1 to 4 p.m. The observatory is located on Underwood Road in Vestal.
