Lindsay Lohan's public contrition tour began Sunday night when her much ballyhooed interview with Oprah aired on the media mogul's cable network. And during the sit-down, taped just four days after LiLo's most recent stint in rehab, the actress finally admitted to being an addict.

Saying booze was her drug of choice, Lindsay added it was a "gateway to other things" -- like the ADD medication Adderall, and also cocaine, which she confessed she's done "10 to 15 times."

“It was like a party thing," Lohan explained. "People would have it and I would do it.”

LiLo insisted that unlike her prior trips to rehab, this one took. “I don’t think in the past I ever fully surrendered to the fact that I just needed to shut up and listen," she mused. "In this case, I wasn’t fighting at all."

Possibly spurring her commitment to sobriety is that her name has become synonymous with tragic child stars, something she said she hates. But at the same time, she knows where her troubles started: getting paid way too much at way too young an age.

Oddly, though, she doesn't hold her notoriously fame-hungry parents, Dina and Michael, even partially responsible for her woes.

“I hate what a bad rap people give [them], because they’re just parents, really, at the end of the day,” she said, adding, “I don’t blame anyone for my mistakes.”

Bottom line, though, is she feels this is a fresh start for her.

“I feel whole again,” she enthused. And while she knows she has a long road ahead of her to "regain the trust of people and my career," she said, ”I have such a desire to want to keep this feeling and stay this way, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes.”
