When my husband and I got married, we knew we wouldn't be able to take a honeymoon because of our work schedules. As a matter of fact, I worked the morning of our wedding and Jay had to go to work the afternoon after the day we got married. We still wanted to do something special and get away, if only for a single evening following our ceremony and so we reached out to others for suggestions.

The majority of people suggested that Jay and I stay at the Owego Treadway Inn, and we did. We were put in a room overlooking both the lighthouse and the river and were treated to a glorious meal with the sweetest waitress who knew we'd just been married (our "bride' and "groom" shirts gave us away) and wrapped up a dessert decorated with hearts for us to take back to our room.

We weren't able to stay as long as we wished, but the time we had was lovely and we decided that night to make a tradition of visiting the Treadway each year on or right around our anniversary. And we did. We went back last year for our first anniversary and took our new baby with us.

Jay and were just talking about needing to book a reservation for our second anniversary this May and that's when I learned that the locally owned Owego Treadway has been sold to a national chain. I can't help but wonder how this will change our stay this year.

According to Press Connects, the Owego Treadway has been sold to a management company out of Buffalo who plans to turn it into a Red Roof Inn and quickly- like within the next 60 days.

So, what does this mean for the employees of the Owego Treadway, including the waitress who was so sweet to me and my husband? Rudra Management sales and operations director, Scott Grant said that the people who currently work at the property will keep their jobs.
