In the coming weeks, you are going to be bombarded with all sorts of tidbits, facts and interesting things about Prince. Prepare to be amazed at performances of his you didn't know existed or songs you had no idea were written my him.

He sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, was nominated for 32 Grammys, and won seven.  Plus a Golden Globe for "The Song of the Heart" from "Happy Feet" in 2007, and an Oscar for the score to "Purple Rain" in 1985.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the first year he was eligible.  And during the ceremony, he stole the show with an AMAZING solo on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

But, here is what I will remember about Prince. I knew at a young age that I wanted to be a DJ. When I was a student at C. Fred Johnson Middle School in Johnson City, they would let students DJ the dances. Perhaps to save some money. Either way, I was the DJ for the dances with a couple other buddies.

Playing a Prince song was always a home run with the students. And, for a brief moment, I was even cool in the eyes of my cute classmates.

And, I am sure you can remember going to a wedding and partying likes it's "1999"! Sometimes, I would play a Prince hit at a wedding or some other joyous occasion and wonder if Prince has any clue really how much his music has touched peoples' lives.

R.I.P. Prince!
