I was sitting at home the other day thinking about what to eat. It made me think of some of my favorite places in the Southern Tier to eat, past and present!

There are some restaurants that popped into my head that aren't around anymore that I miss! So, I thought it would be interesting to name my top 5 favorite Binghamton area restaurants that are not open anymore.

See if you remember any of these and if you liked them. Here are my top 5 favorite long lost Binghamton area restaurants:

5) Morey's Restaurant on Front Street in Binghamton. Now it's the Maine's Food and Party Warehouse. But, at one point it was a great restaurant and catering hall. Former New York Yankee manager Billy Martin spent a lot of time there.

4) Hooter's on the Vestal Parkway. Other than the obvious, they had great wings.

3) Christie's on Harry L. Drive in Johnson City. Now it is the home of Food & Fire across from the Oakdale Mall. I loved their bottomless soup and great lunches.

2) Anthony's on State Street in Binghamton. They had the best garlic knots I have ever had. And, some of the best Italian food around.

And, my favorite long lost Binghamton area restaurant was...

The Vestal Steakhouse on the Vestal Parkway. The steak melted in my mouth every time I had it. And, by far the best twice baked potatoes ever.

What is your favorite local eatery that is not around anymore?
