When all the kids are done tearing open their presents on Christmas morning, what do you always have left? A big trash bag full of wrapping paper, tissue paper and ribbon? Me, too. Bustle says that there are ways to make your holidays more eco-friendly this year.

  • Instead of wrapping paper consider using newspaper (the comics are always a great read!) or a scarf that the recipient of your gift can then use with their gift that you have wrapped up!
  • Instead of candles invest in LED lighting because they will last so much longer than any wax candles that you would use, and they are much less dangerous than a real flame would be in your home (especially next to your tree).
  • Instead of buying cards think about sending out an e-card instead this year! So many greeting cards end up in the landfill, but an e-card can stay in someone's inbox forever!

The holidays are beautiful and wonderful, but they definitely create a lot of waste. So try one (or all!) of these more sustainable ideas this winter season to be a little more eco-friendly.
