"You better make your bed before you leave this house!" I think we have all at some point in our lives been told that, and those of us who are parents now have probably said those words. Well maybe we've been wrong all these years. Take a look why making your bed every morning is actually bad for you.

I can hear children all around the Southern Tier screaming, yelling and jumping for joy with happiness. Apparently it is healthier for us not to make our beds. Sounds crazy right?

The average bed has up to 1.5 million dust mites living in it! Now they are microscopic and what they do is feed off the dead skin that flakes off from our bodies and before you get too grossed out, every bed has them. They produce allergens that we inhale when we are sleeping and that can make allergies worse and even cause asthma attacks.

In the nighttime we sweat and it ends up on the sheets and the mattress and this is the perfect environment that then mites need, they need to warm, moist environment to survive. So if you make your bed as soon as you wake up it's gonna trap all that moisture in which is exactly what the mites want. However not making your bed allows the sheets and mattress to dry out and be exposed to light and fresh air which kills a lot of the dust mites.

This article was pretty gross and I wonder if I can install a giant tanning bed to put my mattress in after I sleep on it!

So bottom line to this 'freaky' story, "make your bed", forget about it!
