New York State Police accuse a New Milford man of trying to outrun authorities at a high rate of speed before becoming mired in mud.

At around 10:15 a.m. August 22, Troopers in Owego were advised by Bradford County, Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Deputies that they were chasing a Ford Mustang traveling on Route 17 toward Barton.  The New York State Police officer saw the vehicle going around 100 miles an hour and tried to make a traffic stop.

Troopers say 28 year old Cody Church failed to comply and continued to flee before the car became stuck in the mud of a yard.

According to the authorities, Church struggled with officers and tried to flee on foot before being taken into custody.

He’s charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, resisting arrest, reckless driving and unlawfully fleeing a police officer as well as being issued several traffic tickets.

Church was sent to the Tioga County Jail on $10,000 bail.
