Growing up, I would always hear that nice guys finish last. If you want to succeed in life you need to be cut-throat. It is hard to be cut-throat if that is not your personality.

Well, don't worry because you may not be the richest person on the block but you will be the last one standing.

Nice guys supposedly finish last but they also live longer than meanies. Researchers who interviewed nearly 200 oldsters who'd reached their 100th birthdays concluded that developing friendships and close family ties helps people live longer.

They also found that those folks boasted friendly, open minded and optimistic attitudes. "They are not prone to negative emotions so they are not hostile to others, not angry or guilty, not angry or guilty, not anxious or depressed," says study head Robyn Richmond. "Centenarians are open to change. They have lived through trials and tribulations. They tend to be extroverts."

The professor at Australia's New South Wales University adds: "Even if you have bad genes but you live a healthy life and stay positive you can still have a very long life." (Daily Mail)
