One of the Key Ingredients to a Happy Person Is Gratitude
What makes a person truly happy? Fortune? Fame? Success? That's a big, fat no to all of those 3 things.
According to many studies, the key to being truly happy is gratitude!
In twelve years of research, I have never interviewed a single person with the capacity to really experience the joy who does not also actively practice gratitude.
Happiness can be increased in a person by being grateful for what you have. Try jotting down 3 good things that happened each day for one week and you will see tremendous results.Brene Brown, Ph.D. says, "In twelve years of research, I have never interviewed a single person with the capacity to really experience the joy who does not also actively practice gratitude."
Here are some things that can increase a person's happiness instantly:
- Spend 5 minutes doing something to brighten a loved one's day.
- Email someone and thank them for something they did for you.
- Have a meaningful conversation with a good friend.
- Take a minute to help someone who needs it.
On the flip side, a couple things that will kill happiness over time are comparing yourself to others, a lack of close friendships, and holding onto resentment. (Time.com)
I always say that the Binghamton area is the best when people are in need. Whether it is a benefit for someone who is sick, or a walk/run to help out an organization or individual, people in this area always come out to support the cause.
And, as the weather is starting to get better, there are a ton of fundraising events and walks coming up around town.
I will actually be hosting the Make-A-Wish Walk/Run for Wishes this weekend if you want to start working on your happiness right away!
