Broome County officials are showing off improvements to the County Dog Shelter off Front Street.  The shelter has improved the lobby and visiting rooms, adding windows and painting.

An open house is being held June 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The shelter is on Cutler Pond Road in the Town of Dickinson near the SUNY Broome Community College Campus.  Visitors can turn onto Lieutenant Van Winkle Drive and turn left onto Cutler Pond Road to find the shelter.

The facility is accepting financial donations as well as supplies like liquid laundry detergent, bleach, Pedigree Adult Size Dog Food, new large dog collars, leashes, harnesses, dog crates, dog toys and nyla bones.

Of course, shelter officials say the big goal is to match adoptable dogs and puppies with companion people that will give them permanent homes.
