Pets Become Just Like Family Members
This morning I was woken up at 5am with a text message from my dad. He told me that they had to bring my 5 year old Peke-a-poo, Chloe Mae, to the vet. My heart sank and I immediately called my dad. I felt so helpless not being there and since my car decided to break down this weekend (more on that later) I couldn't just get up and go to the vet with them.
They are thinking that she is suffering from something gastric related but they are keeping her today to run some tests and to give her the proper medications. My heart just hurts today because I know she doesn't feel well, she's in an unfamiliar place and there is nothing I can do. I am just hoping she will be ok because she my child.
I know some people who are not pet lovers would laugh at someone saying their pet is like family but if you do not own a pet, you really can't understand the bond between an owner and their pet. Chloe is such a smart dog and she even knows me as "mommy". Tell her "Mommy is home"and she will jump up on the back of the couch to watch me pull in the driveway through the window.
To all my fellow animal lovers out there and for those who treat their pets like part of the family: send some positive thoughts my way! I'm so anxious today just waiting for updates on my little Chloe Mae!
