Investigators say both the 9mm assault rifle at a .357 caliber handgun discovered during a drug raid were loaded. The weapons were in an apartment at 308 Arthur Avenue.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force was assisted by an Endicott Police Department K9 team.

In addition to the guns, police seized ammunition, four ounces of methamphetamine and some psychedelic mushrooms.

Police also confiscated $9,170 in suspected drug sale proceeds found during the raid.

31-year-old Joseph Spencer was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. He also was charged with criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Spencer was arraigned and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
