City of Binghamton officials are providing a little more information about the final phase of the Riverside Drive Reconstruction project that got underway this week.

The City says the latest work on the West Side should only take about a month and a half instead of stretching through the entire construction seasons like phase one and the first part of phase two did.

Binghamton Mayor Richard David says the sidewalk and street utility upgrades along with the top coat of asphalt should be done in late May.

The second phase of the street-long reconstruction costs $3.1 million and includes full-depth road reconstruction, new sewer and water lines and new curbs from Beethoven Street to the Johnson city line.

The first phase that went from Front Street to Beethoven cost $2.4 million.

This is the first time the City has undertaken the task of completely reconstructing an entire street.
