The Twin Tiers will be seeing dozens of motorcycles rolling south on Interstate 81 May 24th as bikers all over the nation join for a Memorial Day weekend protest ride in Washington D.C.

Director of the Southern Tier Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.), Don Roshmeir says up to 50 club members were expected to gather at Southern Tier Harley Davidson on Upper Front Street in the Town of Chenango by 8 a.m. to begin a trek south, hooking up with members in Hazelton later in the morning.

Roshmeir says the Southern Tier contingent expects to arrive in the nation's capitol between 2 and 3 p.m. to meet with other riders from around the country for activities and social gatherings before getting down to the main business of the ride on Sunday, May 27.

Rolling Thunder riders meet at the parking lot of the Pentagon early in the morning for the start of the noon protest ride calling attention to the situation of the Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action that remains largely unchanged.

Roshmeir says there are so many riders participating, many with support from their local American Legion Posts, that it can take up to five hours to clear all the bikes from the Pentagon parking areas.
