Businesses impacted by major flash flooding in August are advised they have a chance to apply for low interest loans from the Small Business Administration.

SBA officials will at the Broome County Public Library from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. October 11, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. October 12, Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday and Tuesday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

SBA loans carry interest rates as low as 3.675% for businesses, 2.5% for non-profit organizations and 2% for renters and homeowners.

Availability and amounts of loans are dependent on the amount of damage directly related to the disaster and costs of repair or replacement.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office estimated $1,945,000 in damage to homes and businesses in August.

Applications can be submitted at DisasterLoan.sba.gov.

The deadline to apply for property damage is December 10th.  Businesses have until July 9th to file an economic injury application.

In addition to help at the outreach center at the library in Binghamton, residents and business owners can call the SBA Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955.

A Physical Disaster Declaration was announced for Broome and Seneca Counties and the contiguous counties of Tioga, Cortland, Delaware, Tompkins, Ontario, Schuyler, Wayne and Yates.
