Television viewers in the Binghamton area may wind up missing some of their favorite programs if a station owner and a satellite company don't reach an agreement.

WBNG is warning DISH Network customers that the station's programming could be unavailable because the station's current contract with the satellite provider is expiring.

WBNG is owned by Illinois-based Quincy Media, Inc. The station has been alerting viewers of the potential disruption with a crawl at the bottom of the screen. A brief statement also has been posted on the WBNG website.

According to the statement, the current agreement with DISH runs through 6 p.m. Central Time Wednesday.

The statement expressed hope that a new deal "will be reached on time." But it noted that if the companies don't come to terms, viewers will no longer be able to watch WBNG's local and CBS network programming on DISH.

WBNG's general manager could not be reached Wednesday morning to discuss the status of contract negotiations.

Earlier this year, FOX 40 vanished from the Spectrum cable TV lineup for four months because of a dispute between Northwest Broadcasting and Charter Communications.
