Several arrests have been made in connection with recent threats at Southern Tier area schools.

New York State Police say a 16 year old boy is charged with felony making a terroristic threat on a Whitney Point school bus February 15.

District officials said the teen made no comments in school and had no weapons.  Authorities say there was no threat to the school or community.

The boy was sent to the Broome County Jail to wait for a date in court.

Whitney Point school officials said over the weekend in a Facebook post that an increased police presence would be seen in the district for the rest of the week.

New York State Police say a 15 year old Davenport boy is charged with felony making a terroristic threat against Charlotte Valley Central School in Delaware County, where he was a student.

Again, officials say there was no danger to the school or public. The teen was issued a ticket and turned over to a family member.

And 21 year old Aiden O’Day of Otego is charged with felony making a terroristic threat against Franklin Central school, which New York State Police say he apparently never attended.  O’Day was sent to the Otego County Jail.

Over the weekend, Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond said a parent posted on social media that a student had made threatening remarks against the Downsville School District.  The district is taking disciplinary action over what it said were “inappropriate comments.”

All the incidents come in the wake of the mass killings at a Florida high school February 14.
