Summer is all about being outside and enjoying the warm weather while we have it. However, Bustle explains that heat exhaustion can be a real concern if you're out in the sun for too long. There are some signs that you should know about if you think you might be suffering from heat exhaustion.

  • Dizziness or fainting is one sign if you've ever felt woozy after standing up from a poolside lounging chair that you've been in for a while, or if you've been exercising in the sun for too long. Heat can cause your blood to pool in your legs and therefore decrease your blood pressure, so standing up too quickly after laying out in the sun can make you faint.
  • Nausea or vomiting can be a sign of heat exhaustion because your body is being stressed and this can cause reactions that are less than pleasant as your body copes with the heat.
  • Headaches especially if you are not prone to getting them can be a big sign that you've been in the sun for too long. Find a place to cool off and get a nice cold glass of water to re-hydrate yourself.

Going into an air-conditioned room, getting a glass of cold water, moving into the shade, are all ways in which to combat heat exhaustion. You should be aware of the signs to fight it before it gets worse for you.
