Deciding whether or not pets should be allowed in the bed is a common discussion when first adopting a new pooch. Bustle is saying that for the best sleep, your pet should be in the room, but not in the bed.

The Center for Sleep Medicine in Arizona tracked forty adults over five months and found that they found comfort and security having their pet in the room with them as they slept which boosted their quality of sleep.

If the pet was in bed with them, however, amount of sleep was sacrificed. From personal experience, a pet and a partner is just too many bodies in one bed for any sort of good sleep. And if your pet is having a bad dream and kicking... forget it!

No one can argue about how great having a pet can be for your mental health, but training them to sleep in their own bed on the floor could be the best thing that you ever do for your physical health and quality of sleep.
