April is National Library Month and the March 28 edition of the weekly local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up celebrates with Broome County Library Director Lisa Wise.

While your local library still has hands-on books in their collection, modern libraries, like the Broome Central Library in Binghamton have also embraced the digital age.

Wise says books can be borrowed through down-load, computers are available for public use and the libraries and staff is available to help the less-computer-savvy to navigate the world-wide web.

Programs are available for all ages from 0 to seniors and include story-time and crafts for kids to knitting classes, gardening and symposiums for adults and the local history office and programs at the downtown library.  Meeting facilities are also available for the community.
