The National Weather Service says already full creeks and streams and saturated ground may be asked to take on more water in the next 24 hours in central New York, the Southern Tier and northeast Pennsylvania.

Forecasters say showers and thunderstorms will be across the area August 17. Some of the thunderstorms will have locally heavy rainfall which could cause isolated flash flooding. Some of the thunderstorms this afternoon and evening could also have damaging winds.

Things are looking better further down the road. NOAA says it expects no hazardous weather August 18 through next Thursday, August 23.
