According to WebMD, salmonella can cause food poisoning. The illness can range from mild to very serious infections that can kill vulnerable people. According to WSYR-TV, people infected with salmonella often experience nausea, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you should consult your physician just to be safe.

Just over a month ago, Kelloggs recalled boxes of cereal that were sold in New York and Pennsylvania because of a salmonella outbreak. Early this year there was a major recall on Romaine lettuce.
