Tanya’s Homemade Iced Coffee [PHOTOS]
In April I had surgery and went several days without my morning cup of coffee. When I was finally feeling better, I went and made a cup. It smelled good but as soon as I took a sip I couldn't stand the taste! How weird?
A few weeks passed by with no coffee. Then I had a remote at a coffee place. The manager brought me over her favorite coffee which was an iced coffee with cream, sugar and a mocha twist.
I was nervous I wouldn't like it because coffee no longer tasted good to me and I have never liked sweet coffee, I only would drink it black or with a touch of cream. But I didn't want to be rude, so I took a sip. OH WOW! It was delicious!
I've heard your taste buds can change with time so that must be what happened to me. I was stopping and getting one of those iced coffees everyday. Then I decided I needed to cut back and maybe cut out some of the sugar. So I made my own and thought I'd share with you how I did it.
Here is what you will need:
- 1 bag of coffee
- 1 gallon of water
- coffee filters
- canning funnel
- canning jar
- flavored creamer (I used sugar free)
- Take the bag of coffee and put into the 1 gallon pitcher filled with water, stir.
- Refrigerate overnight, or about for 24 hours.
- Put canning funnel in canning jar.
- Put a coffee filter in the funnel and pour cold coffee into batches to filter out all the grinds. This will take some time! Once done, store in refrigerator.
- Put your favorite flavored creamer in a cup over ice then pour in your cold coffee. I added a drop of coconut extract too.
Delicious, less calories and less sugar!
