This is what this week's letter writer had to say:

"My boyfriend of two years came over last weekend after he'd been out with the guys. He was hammered and passed out on my bed. When I put his jacket away, I found a pack of cigarettes. The next day I asked him why he had them in his jacket and he told me he's a smoker but he hid it from me because he knows I'm against it. I've been livid about this since it happened. I keep thinking if he lied to me about this, what else has he lied to me about? I sent him a package with a carton of cigarettes, and a note saying we're through.  Did I overreact?  Wasn't it uncool for him to lie to me about this for two years?"

I'm very against smoking too. In fact I would never date a smoker so I can relate to what you are saying....being a smoker would be a deal breaker for me. I just find it very odd that in two years you never noticed...you never smelled it? I also wonder is he an occasional smoker...like when he's drinking? If smoking is a deal breaker for you, than you didn't over react. And he shouldn't have lied to you. You were together for two years, I would recommend you talk either in person or on the phone...NOT TEXTS...and see if you can work through this...and if you can't then at least you know you tried.
