Tanya’s Midweek Crisis Letter – Should I Get a Gift for Someone I’m Only Casually Dating?

Here is what this week's letter had to say.

"I've been seeing a girl for six months, but we're not serious, we're extremely casual. Even though we're not 'official', she's important to me and I want to show her that I care so I'm thinking about getting her something nice for Christmas. Would that be weird?  I don't want to muddy the waters or confuse her, but I think that not getting her something would seem weird too. Will getting her a gift make things more complicated?"

I am a little confused here. You claim that she's important to you but at the same time, you're "extremely casually" dating. Why? It's been six months! I think you need to figure out where this situation is going.

But I digress, back to your question. I say get her a nice gift and show her that she's important to you. It's time to s*** or get off the pot. This will also be a testament as to where she stands in the 'relationship'. I say if you feel it, go for it! Good luck!
