Here is what this week's letter writes:

"My 16-year-old son is a junior in high school, and he has his first serious girlfriend. They've been going out for six months or so, and she just invited him to go on spring break to Mexico with her family. I said no . . .he can't go. He's too young to go on vacation with a girl, even if there will be parents there.  But my husband thinks I'm being too strict.

Should I let my 16-year-old go on spring break with his girlfriend?"

This is a tough one! In one regard....going to Mexico would be fun, and they are with her parents and have adult supervision. However, he's going to have a lifetime ahead of him to travel and go away with girlfriends. With that being said....if he was MY son, I actually think I would allow him to go. I would have a serious talk with him however and also the girlfriends parents. But I really don't think there is a right or wrong answer here. It's what YOU are comfortable with since you are his mother!
