Well, here's a duet we never pictured.

Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook was named NBA MVP on Monday evening (June 26) and Taylor Swift made a video congratulating him on the honor. Yes, Taylor Swift, who is about as synonymous with basketball as Donald Trump is with modesty.

"Russell, it's Taylor, remember?," the clip, which was posted on the Thunder's Twitter account, begins. "I was the one who taught you how to play basketball."

"I remember the first time you beat me at basketball and I was very upset and you said, if you remember correctly, you said, 'You just have to shake it off' and I got an idea," Swift went on to say in a nod to her hit song. "So essentially we have each other to thank for these careers, obviously. So that's why I'm a part of your congratulations video because we go back, what, 20 years -– actually we've never met and that's a fake story and I wish it were the truth."

The appearance from the "Blank Space" singer was a surprise since Swift has kept herself out of the limelight recently, save for her recent decision to make her music available on all streaming services.

Swift's seemingly out-of-place video may not actually be as random as you think, though. Back in 2015, Westbrook made a video in which he rocked out to "Bad Blood" and posted another video on Instagram from one of her concerts. So, clearly these two are members of the mutual admiration society.
