What you say to your spouse or partner is just as important as how you say it. Bustle says that the happiest couples say these phrases to each other every day. Do you and your partner take time to say these things?

  • "I love you" is a phrase that should be said regularly. It will never get old, I promise. Whether you've had a tough day at work, or you just dropped and broke a dish and want to give up making dinner that night, the reminder that your significant other loves you can make everything else seem that much more manageable for you.
  • "Thank you, I really appreciate that..." and then insert what they did that you appreciated. Knowing that your partner appreciates when you do the dishes, or put the laundry away, or any other chore or thing around the house or with the kids or whatever it is, can be such a wonderful little boost that you need that day.
  • "I'm sorry" is an important phrase to learn and know when to say. We all make mistakes, but owning up to them and learning from them can be harder that it sounds. Apologize when you need to, and remember what not to do for next time.

A relationship is something that always needs to be worked on, can always improve, and it grows out in all directions. If you both prune it, care for it and talk to it, you will likely have a wonderful relationship between the two of you.
