The Weeknd won the Grammy for Best R&B Performance for "Earned It" on Monday night (February 15).

While the song has been around for some time now, Abel is walking away with a golden gramophone for the chart-topping Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack cut. The news was announced prior to the live telecast, and is just one of the seven chances he has to win. He is nominated for Album of the Year for Beauty Behind the Madness and Record of the Year for "Can't Feel My Face," which will be announced during the live broadcast.

Weeknd beat Tamar Braxton's “If I Don’t Have You,” Andra Day's “Rise Up,” Hiatus Kaiyote's “Breathing Underwater” and “Planes” by Jeremih featuring J. Cole.

This is The Weeknd's first Grammy award.
