According to the New York Post and USA Today former Heisman Trophy winner and current New York Mets prospect Tim Tebow will start this baseball season playing for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Tim Tebow joined the Mets organization last year and is currently vying for a main roster spot with the big league team.

Tebow was a former NFL quarterback winning one playoff game with the Denver Broncos. Tebow was criticized for his unique paying style and off the field issues. Tebow joined multiple sports broadcasting outlets before joining the Mets.

Tebow was designated for assignment earlier in Spring Training, and this is why he will wind up playing for the Mets minor league affiliate.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies open their season April 5th against Portland.
