I'm still somewhat new to motherhood as my little guy is only two-years-old, but I have to say that this age is my favorite so far. My son's vocabulary is really starting to pick up and he's curious about everything which makes each new day an adventure.

Since John was born, my husband Jay and I have taken him everywhere with us and we try to do at least one fun thing each week with him. However, as he gets older, what John thinks is fun isn't always what we think is fun.

Take for instance the time we took John the carousel in Binghamton's Recreation Park. We thought it would be fun to ride as a family. John didn't agree.

And then, there was the time John had a blast at the bounce house and wanted us to chase him for an eternity. But by hour two we were spent and he was still running.

There is one place we can all agree on as being a fun place and that's the park.

The next time you and your kids aren't exactly seeing eye-to-eye on where to go or what to do for fun, you might want to revert back to this survey which was conducted by Family Fun Magazine. The magazine asked its readers which activities actually make both parents AND kids happy. Family vacations topped the list, followed by a visit to a playground or the zoo. The survey also found that a lot of kids just want to stay home and spend time with their parents with no distractions (that means you'll have to set down your cell phone. Or better yet, turn it off) playing board games and video games.

According to PR Newswire, the magazine asked its readers which activities actually make both parents AND kids happy. Family vacations topped the list, followed by a visit to a playground or the zoo. The survey also found that a lot of kids just want to stay home and spend time with their parents with no distractions (that means you'll have to set down your cell phone. Or better yet, turn it off) playing board games and video games.

Think that you need to plan a big vacation to a place like an amusement park each year? Nope. The survey also found that both parents and kids prefer to carve out time to do little things together each week rather than take an amusement park trip each year.
