The operators of the soon-to-open Touch of Texas have announced their plans to kick things off at the venue's new location.

Co-owner Terry Drake said the grand opening at the Northgate Plaza in the Town of Chenango is planned for New Year's Eve.

The Whitney Point-based band Two Dollar Pistol will provide entertainment for the launch party.

Drake said she expects tickets for the special event will go on sale soon, probably on Wednesday.

Many people who remember Touch of Texas from its earlier incarnations in Johnson City and in Norwich are looking forward to the new operation.

Drake said she really doesn't know exactly what to expect for the grand opening event but she believes it is likely to be a sell-out. She said "a lot of people are beyond excited" with news of the new venue.

People interested in buying tickets for the New Year's Eve party may call 607.771.1000.

Some shows have been booked for February and March but Drake said no major concerts have yet been scheduled.
