A Broome County man was arrested following a one-car crash on Interstate 81 in the Town of Marathon.

Authorities say 24-year-old Eric Weathers of Boswell Hill Road in the Town of Union faces several charges in connection with the incident, which happened around 3 a.m. Saturday.

According to the Cortland County Sheriff's Office, Weathers had been driving a 2016 Nissan sedan south on I-81 when the car drifted off the highway into the center median.

The vehicle then struck a guiderail and crossed over both lanes of traffic before coming to rest on the opposite shoulder.

Investigators say Weathers was not hurt in the crash.

The driver was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right. He also was cited for driving across hazard markings and operating an uninspected vehicle.

Weathers was directed to appear in Marathon town court on May 16.
