A tractor-trailer driver was hurt when the rig he was operating overturned on a highway exit ramp just west of Binghamton.

The crash happened at the Airport Road exit from Route 17 West around 7:50 p.m. Sunday.

The truck was loaded with thousands of pounds of frozen food that was to be delivered to the Walmart store in Johnson City, about a half-mile away.

The tractor-trailer struck a guiderail near the rock-cut area at the exit. The rig wound up on its side.

Salvage crews worked overnight to remove dozens of cases of frozen beef patties, turkey, french fires and ice cream from the wrecked trailer.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office was investigating the crash.
