Delaware County Sheriff’s officials say neither the driver of an all-terrain vehicle that rolled over nor his passenger was wearing a helmet when the UTV crashed in the Town of Meredith May 17.

Authorities say 27 year old Nicholas Santomero of Brewster was driving on Bloomville Hill Road at 9:20 p.m.when he suffered a medical emergency and lost control of the side-by-side utility-terrain vehicle.

The UTV rolled over, ejecting Santomero and his passenger, 26 year old Cody Petrucci of Harrison.

Santomero was taken to O’Connor Hospital in Delhi where he was treated and released.

Cody suffered a serious head injury and was transferred to Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

Deputies say their investigation is continuing.
