Good communication speaks mountains about the health of a relationship, but even the best relationships have some things that are hard to talk about. Bustle has a list of some of these uncomfortable questions that you should still ask your partner.

  • "Have you ever had an STD?" Even if your partner is clean and good to go now, it's important to know if they have ever had one before you. Some sexually-transmitted diseases are perfectly treatable, but it's good to know what you partner has had in the past, how it was treated, and to make sure there is no way possible that you could get it yourself.
  • "Are you worried about anything in our relationship?" No one likes to discuss the negative aspects of a relationship. If your partner asks for a lot of reassurance, maybe they have unaddressed anxieties about your relationship. You should sit down and work through what some of these issues might be.
  • "Do you want kids?" If your answers are different, this could very well be a deal-breaker for the relationship and maybe that is why you two have both been avoiding asking the question. Hoping that the other person will change their mind about having (or not having) children down the line is not a good foundation for a long-term relationship.

It's okay to be uncomfortable bringing up some questions to your partner, but good communication thrives on making sure you two are on the same page.
