A local community political action group is organizing a demonstration against the Vestal School District’s proposed budget and its projected tax increase.

Citizens Reclaim New York Initiative and residents are displaying signatures to a petition against a proposed 1.4% tax increase.

The group says that increase is being planned in spite of a multi-million dollar reserve fund balance. Reclaim New York says the fund balance is enough to cut property taxes in half.

The protestors were planning on gathering at the edge of Memorial Park across from the Vestal Central School District offices May 7.
