Schaffer, a self-professed "fan" of the chain, last fall said a developer was working to secure a site for a Chick-fil-A unit. A deal for a potential location along the Vestal Parkway wasn't finalized.

While the town supervisor said he was disappointed, he's not giving up. He said he still expects Chick-fil-A will expand into Broome County and is "very confident" the first restaurant will be in Vestal.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program Wednesday, Schaffer was asked whether there was anything area residents could do if they want a Chick-fil-A located here.

The town supervisor suggested they "start emailing them and putting your concerns out."

Schaffer also provided the same advice for people hoping a Trader Joe's grocery store will be located in Vestal.

Schaffer believes it's only a matter of time before both companies have a presence in the town because of the attractive Vestal Parkway traffic count.
