Who wouldn't want to drop a few pounds before the holidays? I know I sure would! You get invited to several parties and want to wear a cute outfit, dropping a few would help them fit better. Plus, we tend to gain weight during the holidays but maybe it would help us to behave and keep on track. But how can you lose ten pounds without starving yourself and working out? Easy!

If you think you have to eat like a bird or run 10 miles a day to lose those extra ten pounds before the holidays, think again! And there is science to back up this simple thing for us to do. Researchers at the University of Birmingham in England recently had people drink a pint of water 30 minutes before they had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A pint is 16 ounces or two cups. The results of doing this was in three months, they lost an average of nine and a half pounds. It makes you feel full, so therefore you eat less.

Of course this doesn't mean you can eat potato chips and Ben & Jerry's and just add 16 ounces of water before that, and then still lose weight! You have to be at least trying to be healthy. The people in the study who didn't drink water before their meals lost an average of just 1.7 pounds. That includes people who only did it before one meal a day instead of all three. That's a HUGE difference and doesn't take much work at all. So if you do this make sure you drink that pint of water before ALL meals. I also heard before to drink ice cold water because that helps rev up your metabolism because it will kick in to try to warm your body up.

Such a simple thing to do! I am definitely going to try this, I just have to be consistent, which I bet will be the hardest part. Who's going to do with 'water challenge' with me??
