While you might think that you'll never get over your now ex-partner, time really does heal all wounds. And Brit.Co has a list of ways to survive the initial blow of a break-up when it feels really hard to get over.

  • Surround yourself with friends whether you need a good distraction, or people to talk it out with, friends are always the best because they'll be there for you to help you in any way.
  • Prioritize your mental health which could mean taking a day off from work or school just to sleep or to take a day trip somewhere to clear your head.
  • Give yourself time because you won't (and shouldn't expect to) get over someone you loved overnight. Pretending that you have will only cause more trouble down the road with your next relationship.
  • Cut off all contact for your own healing and well-being. Going from talking to someone every day to not talking to them at all can be extremely difficult, but it is necessary in order to start moving on.

Relationships are tricky. You are either with that person for the rest of your life, or you break-up with them. Either way, that can be scary. Odds are, if you were just broken up with, then you probably dodged a bullet. It will get easier in time.
