"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times", all long-term relationships are bound to go through a rough patch here and there. Bustle came up with a few ways to help make those rough patches a little bit easier.

  • Encourage your partner to be honest about their feelings because if you are unintentionally doing something that bothers them, you can't fix it if you don't know that they're bothered by it. If they feel safe and comfortable enough with you to open up, communication will be all that more easy for you two.
  • Put aside your feelings and listen to them if they have a grievance to air out because getting upset with them before they can say what they need to say will only make the tension run higher.
  • Don't lose sight of the bigger picture which is that you love your partner and want to be with them. If you're in it for the long haul, one fight should not automatically warrant you wanting to break up with them.

Whatever your relationship's rough patch might be about, remembering how much you love and care for your partner will help you two get through anything.
