It's incredibly important in relationships to know when to apologize for something that you may have done wrong, but Bustle says that there are some things that you should never have to apologize for at all.

  • Your hobbies or passions should never have to be apologized for. It's okay to have hobbies that your partner doesn't have, but you should always be supportive of each other's extracurriculars.
  • Expressing an opinion because there is no way that you will always see eye-to-eye with your partner, but you should never have to apologize to them if your opinion is different from theirs about a specific topic (whether that be politics, religion, family life, etc.).
  • Needing alone time which happens to us all from time-to-time. The need to be alone to decompress and relax should never be something that you need to feel guilty for or apologize to your partner about.

When you do make a genuine mistake (and you will) then you should know how to apologize to your partner, but something as trivial as what you like to do in your spare time should not be something that needs apologizing for. Your partner should love you for you, as you should love your partner for them as well.
