There’s definitely a holiday theme in my family. My birthday is on Valentine’s Day, my brother Brian’s is on Christmas, and my brother, Jeff was born on Easter. But that’s not all. My grandma was born on Father’s Day and my aunt was born on Thanksgiving.

I guess it would make sense that I’d get engaged on a holiday. My husband created an elaborate egg hunt to propose to me on Easter, but I’m really glad our holiday tradition stopped there and that we didn’t get married on a holiday.

I hate to rain on your parade if you got married on a holiday, but remember that I'm only the messenger.

A new study says that people who exchange vows on holidays are up to 36% more likely to get divorced than people who get married on average, non-holiday days.

Researchers from the Melbourne Institute told the Melbourne Newsroom"Couples who marry on ordinary dates may be more strongly influenced by characteristics of their relationships and their compatibility than couples who marry on special dates.”

In other words, researchers believe that people who get married on a big holiday might be more about the showiness of the wedding day and not the nitty-gritty of the relationship.
